Week 21 - The Herb Shop

I have been swamped in final projects but I did take a little time off on Sunday to check out an herbary near by. Martha's Herbary is located in Pomfret, CT at the intersection of Rt. 169, Rt. 97 and Rt. 44. They have a cute little shop full of jewelry, clothing, garden inspired decor and a nice selection of organic cooking herbs. Outside they have lots of plants and pots for sale and out on the lawn is a gorgeous series of gardens. It was a nice relaxing little break.

Week 20

Sunday I went for a late afternoon walk in the Goodwin State Forest in Chaplin, CT. We found this really nice path along the water. The sunlight through the trees was just beautiful though. The park is quite large and has 4 miles of easy trails, including part of the Airline Trail, throughout the park. I'm definitely planning another trip back to explore more.

Week 19 - Harkness Park

Last Friday, I made my second trip down to Harkness Park and the Eiola Mansion in Waterford, CT. (The first trips photos were for the Photoswap 2009 and you can see them here.) It is the former home of Edward and Mary Harkness, a 200+ acre working farm and the Harkness' sea side summer home. This trip I discovered the greenhouse and fell in love with it. It is part of a restoration project but I love it just as is.

Week 18

College Hill

These are from Benefit and Congdon Streets in Providence, RI. They are part of the College Hill section of the city, located on the steep bank of the east side of the Providence River. Home to Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design as well as an impressive collection of architectural buildings. Benefit Street has houses dating back to 1756 and was home to a number of wealthy businessmen.

The first photo is the spire of the First Baptist Church and the last is the view from Benefit Street of the state capitol building and legislative offices.
