Week 22

These pictures are what I love most about Providence. There is such a mix of architecture and creativity in the city. The first picture is City Hall, if you look on the left side you can see where the second picture was taken. This building has some of the most interesting and elaborate details in all of Providence. It spans a block and the lower half has store fronts on 3 sides. One part is home to the Big Nazo Lab (3rd & 4th photo). They create the best creatures for performances and have a traveling masked musical group (they play in full costume at events and parades). I love to take pictures of their window displays. The big green head is my favorite though. The last photo is part of a series of art windows throughout the city. They fill empty store fronts with art instillations. This window was full of hanging light bulbs in different patterns.

Great idea to use empty shop windows to show art! I love the light bulbs and the painted skateboards. Here in Amsterdam they do the same with the empty windows of the red light district. There they rent the windows to local starting fashion designers.
